Ara Damansara, 14 June 2025 — In a significant step toward strengthening community health and emergency response, the Rotary Club of Ara Damansara (RCAD) has successfully installed a public Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Evolve Concept Mall. The launch event, held on Saturday, marked a milestone in RCAD’s ongoing “A Life-Saver in Every Home” (ALEH) campaign.
The initiative aims to provide wider public access to AEDs and equip everyday citizens with the skills to respond effectively in cardiac emergencies. More than 20 participants received CPR and AED training on-site, conducted by St. John Ambulance Malaysia, reinforcing the project’s focus on awareness and action.

“Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, and every second counts,” said Mr Ling Hau Ching, President of RCAD (2024–2025). “By placing an AED in a high-traffic community space like Evolve Concept Mall, we are giving the public a powerful tool that could help save lives.”
The project was made possible through a global grant from the MDRT Foundation, secured through the recommendation of Past President Teh Mei Li—an esteemed chapter member of the Rotary Club of Ara Damansara (RCAD) and a 27-time qualifying Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). Her longstanding commitment to both Rotary and MDRT was instrumental in ensuring the success of this initiative. The club also expressed its sincere appreciation to Assistant Governor Gordan Vong for his invaluable support and guidance throughout the grant application process.
Special guest YB Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, Selangor’s Islamic Affairs and Cultural Innovation Executive Councillor and Seri Setia Assemblyman, commended the effort, noting that public access defibrillation can significantly improve survival rates in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases.
Evolve Concept Mall’s management was also recognised for their strong support and commitment to public safety by hosting the device and accommodating training activities.
“This is more than an installation—it’s a collaboration between NGOs, the private sector, and the community to create safer shared spaces,” said Mr Ling. “We hope this inspires more corporate and community partners to step forward and expand AED accessibility across the Klang Valley.”
RCAD continues to advocate for greater awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and aims to extend its ALEH campaign to more locations, schools, and residential areas in the coming months.
