Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2025 — Purple Door (M) Sdn. Bhd. successfully launched its nationwide Mini Roadshow Series in Kuala Lumpur today, marking the official start of its public engagement initiatives ahead of PROTECT SARAWAK 2026 – International Conference on Data Privacy & Digital Trust, which will take place in Kuching next April.
The initiative is endorsed and supported by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), with strategic partners including the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), Taylor’s University, TamuAsia, and NetSec. Other supporting partners include the Sustainable Business Network (SustNET), AiBots Sdn. Bhd., Shante Connects Solutions, and Digiforen (M) Sdn. Bhd., among others.

Organised in association with the School of Computer Science at Taylor’s University, the half-day programme drew approximately 150 participants, including industry leaders, policymakers, academics, and university students. Taylor’s University also serves as the Strategic Academic Partner for the Protect Sarawak 2026 conference.
The KL Kick-Off explored the central theme, “Cross-Border Data Governance at a Crossroads: CBPR, ASEAN and the Future of Malaysia’s Digital Sovereignty,” highlighting the accelerating challenges of regional and global data flows. Speakers examined the growing influence of frameworks such as the Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) and discussed the need for robust, trusted mechanisms to manage personal and commercial data moving across borders.

During the launch, Purple Door CEO Marsy Sebban underscored the significance of national readiness in navigating global digital governance. “Data is no longer a by-product of innovation, it is the new currency of power. And the nation that governs this power wisely will own its future,” she said. “This roadshow is not just another seminar; it is Malaysia’s declaration that we will not merely follow the rules of the global digital age — we will help write them.”
The sessions further addressed Malaysia’s cybersecurity gaps, emerging AI-related risks, and new digital threats affecting interconnected industries. For students and early-career professionals, the programme offered valuable exposure to real-world regulatory landscapes and the rising demand for digital governance expertise.
Featured speakers included Yasmin Mortaza, Senior Privacy Specialist at CelcomDigi; G. Saravanan, Chief Transformation Officer of Informed Solutions ASEAN and CIO of the National Cancer Society; Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dato’ Dr. Husin Jazri, Taylor’s University and Chairman of PROTECT SARAWAK 2026; Melbourne Lim, Manager at Deloitte Southeast Asia; Dr. Sufyan Basri, Specialist Policy & Compliance at the Malaysia Cryptology Technology & Management Centre (PTPKM); and Dr. Alex Chong of Digiforen (M) Sdn. Bhd.

The Mini Roadshow Series will continue in Kuching this February, building momentum toward PROTECT SARAWAK 2026, which is poised to be one of Malaysia’s most significant platforms for discussion on data privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, and digital trust.
