Malaysia has officially launched its Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, introducing two adorable bear mascots named Wira and Manja. According to Tourism Malaysia, these mascots were selected to reflect the nation’s unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation.
Wira and Manja, meaning ‘hero’ and ‘playful’ in Malay, convey high-spiritedness and friendliness, resonating with visitors of all ages. Adding a touch of Malaysian culture, the bears are adorned in batik-themed attire. Wira, the male bear, is dressed with a stylish batik scarf, while Manja, the female bear, dons a charming batik sash complemented by a bow.
Over the years, Malaysia has embraced various local animals as tourism mascots, including the turtle and orangutan, to symbolise the nation’s rich biodiversity. This latest choice of mascots continues the tradition, celebrating Malaysia’s diverse wildlife while promoting awareness about conservation efforts.
The Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign aims to attract more tourists to experience the nation’s unique offerings, from its vibrant culture and heritage to breathtaking natural landscapes. Tourism Malaysia and the nation are optimistic about welcoming a surge in visitors, not only this 2025 and for 2026, but also in the years to come.
With Wira and Manja leading the way, Malaysia invites travellers worldwide to explore this tropical haven’s wonders, and share in its commitment to preserving nature and heritage for the world.
