Kuala Lumpur, 8 January 2026 — Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur became a hub of sustainability innovation and dialogue as leaders from across the Asia Pacific came together for a one-day conference focused on advancing sustainable initiatives in the region.

The event brought together policymakers, industry players, academics and educators to share experiences, solutions and strategies for making sustainability actionable at both institutional and community levels. Discussions centered on turning policy into tangible results, fostering collaboration and promoting practical approaches that create measurable impact.
A key highlight of the day was the Malaysia Global Sustainability Awards (MGSA) 2025, recognising organisations that have demonstrated leadership and tangible results in sustainability. Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) received the prestigious Elite Award for its urban farming initiative, a project praised for strengthening community engagement, promoting food security and supporting greener urban development.
Other notable winners included Perbadanan Teknologi Hijau Melaka, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Perak, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), as well as several polytechnics and schools such as Politeknik Mersing and MRSM Sungai Besar, reflecting the growing role of public institutions and educational bodies in shaping sustainable futures.
In addition to the awards, the conference featured knowledge-sharing sessions led by distinguished speakers from various sectors. Presentation materials have been made accessible through the SustNET digital flip-book, allowing participants and the wider public to continue learning from best practices and real-world case studies long after the event concluded.

The conference also marked the official launch of the 2026 edition of SustNET Magazine, developed in collaboration with TamuAsia (M) Sdn Bhd as the magazine’s strategic content and media partner. The magazine goes beyond sharing stories by providing actionable insights, practical frameworks and case studies that organisations and communities can adopt to achieve measurable sustainability outcomes. At the same time, SustNET highlighted its collaboration with Purple Door (M) Sdn Bhd in advancing conversations around data privacy and digital trust frameworks, underlining the importance of responsible governance in sustainability efforts. Together with many other collaborators, these partnerships reinforce SustNET Magazine’s role as a regional platform that not only informs but empowers stakeholders to turn sustainability ideas into real-world impact across the Asia Pacific region.
