Nara, a small city in south-central Japan near Osaka, is well known for its numerous historic ancient temples and shrines. This is no surprise as #Narawas Japan’s capital before the capital moved to Kyoto in 795 AD.
Among Nara’s famous temples are #Yokushiji, #Kofukuji and probably the most renowned, #Todaiji. Todaiji temple holds the record as the world’s largest historic wooden structure, and it hosts the Great Buddha Hall with its immense statue of Rushana Butsu or ‘Cosmic Buddha’.
Nara has many other attractions including numerous endearing dear in several parks includng those near some of the temples.
Nara is easily accessible by train from Osaka, as well as direct train from Kyoto too.
